My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas. My Dad has this weird, but fun tradition, where he gives us pringles that are covered up to look like somesthing else.

Video Blog Post

I recently watched a video at www.collaborationnation.wikispaces.com/today/. It was pretty funny. As funny as it was now, if someone from a long time ago would never see any humor in it. They would probably see it just as a person learning to read from a book who has never seen a book before and has used only scolls.
My Bigest Influence… Rodney Mullen
December 14th, 2007 by mullen in Uncategorized · No Comments
Rodney Mullen has influenced many people with amazing original skateboarding skills. He showed me that anything is possible as long as you are deticated and you stay to your passion. He also showed me skateing tricks and combos I had never seen before influencing me to try something new every day. He showed me that if I keep skating doing what I love I can be a pro like him and just let things fall into place. It is not about being pro with me ,because skateing is just something I enjoy. Maybe some day I could meet him.

About Skateboard Decks
October 28th, 2007 by mullen in Uncategorized · No Comments
Skateboard decks are made of 7-9 plys of hard rock maple wood. Some boards such as my Almost Mullen Uber Light has a carbon fiber core. Other exotic matierials are fiberglass, kevlar, bamboo, or plastics. The point of using these materials is for lightening, strengthening the board, or adding rigidity. You do have to pay the price. My carbon fiber Mullen Uber Light goes for over $100 just for the deck! Decks now come in common sizes between 7.5-8 in. widths and between 28- 32 inches long. The size of the board varies for rider personal preference of comfort or for their select array of tricks. Rodney Mullen is the man who designed the modern skate deck.

I thought about some skateboarding related blogs, but I needed to be a member so I eventually stumbled upon this entry on a problem in our world. I learned that they believe in 20% green house gas emission cuts by 2015. “We at Ecological Internet would like to see an on average 20% goal for national greenhouse gas emission cuts by 2015.” This quote leads me to believe more can be done than what is currently happening. My comment was:
We definitely need to act now on this important matter. Things are being done but I think that they should increase the pace.

Right now, I am listening to a interview of Mayor Dickinson by three students in my class. Here are some quotes from the interview. “i think techology is always a roll. sometimes i think it gets over emphasized. tech changes so qucikly that what you use in school today will not be what you use in the work force. you should feel comfortable with it. you should be able to operate it.” “well i think certainly effective communication. you have to be able to communticate well with other people. you will be a success if you can having technicalk skills will be important.” “putting your heart and soul into things gives you the enthusiasm and energy to succeed.” “there is no time to waste [in a classrom] you have to learn everything that you can possibly learn” “content is king, queen you name it. dominint. whoever has the knowledge first will be the person who becomes the leader. there is no piece of unimportant information. learn everything how to learn will take care of itself” “knowledge is absolutaly necassary to becomes successful” “you have a special look and intelegence, dont waste it.” “computers dont create knowlege by themself.” The bold quote is my favorite. It is definitely something I believe in that drives me to succeed in what I love.

How to make skateboard trucks.
(Skateboard trucks are the metal axles on a skateboard that eventually lead to the wheels.)
First a clay, wood, or plastic model of the truck is made. They then use this to make a mold by which the aluminum alloy will be melted and put into. 8 alluminum ingots are melted at 1300F or 706.7C and poured into the mold. Once cooled the mold is remove. Lastly, kingpins, nuts, bolts, and bushings are added.

There is much at my school that we can do to stop wasting paper and help save our environment. The main way of doing this is to not only recycle but to reuse our paper as much as we can. For example we should create piles in our classrooms for papers that only one side was used, that way when more paper is needed teachers and students can turn to this pile. Then when both side have been used it can be recycled and the process starts again. Initially it saves trees then later it helps our environment.
